SPRAT Level I Course Overview:
This entry-level course is comprehensive, covering:
- Basic and essential knots for Level 1
- Inspection, maintenance, and usage of equipment
- Techniques for ascending and descending systems
- Rope transfers and belaying methods, including short and long re-belays
- Navigating past knots during ascent and descent
- Usage of work seat or bosun’s chair
- Managing loads on a two-rope system
- Discussion on job safety, situational awareness at height, fall factors, and minimum breaking strengths
Duration:
The course spans five days, with four days dedicated to hands-on training and the final day reserved for assessment, all under the guidance of certified SPRAT evaluators.
